Apply for a Scholarship

The application period for the 2012 Provost's Career Enhancement Postdoctoral Scholarships is closed. We will begin accepting applications for the 2013 Scholarships on September 1, 2012.

Interested candidates may apply by completing the online Application Form. Required  materials must be received no later than 11:59 pm CDT, November 1, 2011 and are:

  1. letter of application (cover letter)
  2. curriculum vitae
  3. statement of academic interests or research* If they wish, candidates may address how their selection for a PCEPS will contribute to campus diversity as set forth in the University of Chicago Diversity Statement.
  4. teaching statement*
  5. recommendation letters sent by three independent references to the Recommendation Form on this website.

Optional:  If there is a University of Chicago faculty member with whom you wish to work, you may suggest him or her as a proposed mentor on your application form.

Please submit all documents (except the recommendation letters, which should be sent by the reference to the recommendation form) as PDF files (each up to 10MB) to the application form no later than the November 1, 2011 deadline.

*GUIDELINES FOR RESEARCH AND TEACHING STATEMENTS

 Please provide two separate documents addressing research and teaching. The preferred length for each statement is no more than two pages but at least one page.  The statements should be in single-spaced format.

Your research statement should describe the aims and achievements of your prior and current research; the research goals you hope to accomplish as a PCEP scholar; and your research plans and goals beyond your tenure as a PCEP scholar.

Your teaching statement should describe your teaching philosophy and method; the courses (if any) you have already taught; and the courses you propose to teach as a PCEP scholar.
